“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,

And do not return there without watering the earth,

And making it bear and sprout,

And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;

So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;

It will not return to Me empty,

Without accomplishing what I desire,

And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

For you will go out with joy And be led forth with peace;

The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of

joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their

hands….”       Isaiah 55:11,12.

Reader’s instructions

As in previous years, the typical set-up for reading stations are either two seats at a long table (see photographs on the Shekinah Trust webpage, to get a “feeling”: https://www.shekinah.org.nz/gallery/inter-church-bible-reading-marathon-2018/)

Upon Arrival

If you are a registered reader and have arrived on site, make yourself known to your site organiser who will coordinate the transitioning between readers and reading slots. If you are not registered but would like to read, let your site organiser know.

Transitioning between Readers/-ings

When you arrive at your preferred venue, you will find people reading. The portion of the Scripture that is read aloud is displayed on a monitor next to the reading table. So, you can follow along. There are two seats at the table so that transition can happen seamless: while one is reading, the next person can come quietly and sit at the vacant seat near, and can follow the reading quietly. The reader who is about to finish will indicate to the next reader with the chapter number to continue. Then the new reader starts reading and the previous’ reader leaves the table.

About the Reading itself

In the course of your reading, you will name the chapter number so that the display can be changed by the coordinator and people in the audience can follow in their Bibles. Feel free to read in any language that you are comfortable in, but let the site organiser know before you start reading. If you feel tired and want to be swapped out by the next reader, indicate this to the site organiser, but keep reading until the transition happens.

Space

Where possible, hot drinks and baking of some sort or cookies, for catch-up & fellowshipping; use the allocated space on site for fellowshipping and keep the space where Scripture is read as sacred, allowing listeners to have a God-moment.
